Henry Ford Community College has a 70-year tradition of providing transfer opportunities, career training and other service to Dearborn, Dearborn Heights and southeastern Michigan.

For over 64 years, Henry Ford Community College has been preparing students for the careers of their dreams. The faculty and staff will provide you with the care and commitment you will need to reach your academic goals. Henry Ford Community College has over 13,000 students enrolled throughout Michigan. As an international student, you will be among American students from many different age groups, backgrounds, and life experiences.
International students make up only a small number of our overall student population, but represent more than 40 different countries. At Henry Ford Community College our students celebrate their differences but learn together. Henry Ford Community College is a commuting college. We do not provide housing.
International Student Requirements
- ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a secondary school program that is determined by HFCC to be at least equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma. External examination results and certificates may be required. Transcripts must demonstrate to the college’s satisfaction average or above average grades. Transcripts/Diplomas must be originals or notarized copies and translated into English. Success on a GED examination is acceptable proof of high school completion.
- ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS
Students from countries where English is not the primary language will need to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. English proficiency must be demonstrated by a TOEFL score of 213 or above, MELAB of 80 or above, or successful completion of the HFCC ESL placement test. If you do not pass the ESL test, you may attend our English Language Institute before being admitted to our college.
- FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS
International students in the U.S. are not eligible for financial aid sponsored by Federal or State governments. Other types of financial aid are not normally available and international students should not plan on receiving financial aid as p art of their funds.
Scholarships are available to students from diverse backgrounds and interests who seek an education in a vast variety of HFCC programs. |
