Mogilev Machine Building Institute was opened on Sept. 1, 1961, in accordance with the Decree of the Council of Ministers on 10 August 1961 № 714 and the Council of Ministers of the BSSR of August 22, 1961 № 504. Institute became the only Belarusian higher educational institution of this nature.
Since 1985, the institute has established and expanded direct contractual training for Belarusian citizens and foreign nationals from more than 20 countries around the world, including: Syria, Lebanon, Morocco, Israel, Algeria, Nepal, Congo and other countries.
The Institute was among the first institutions of higher education moved to the 2-level system of training, which allows qualified graduates to assign a title of bachelor.
September 1, 1992, in accordance with the scheme long-term development of Mogilev Machine Building Institute, approved by the Council of the Institute (protocol number 6 from 21.02.92), the Rector's order VI Khodyrev on 06/02/1992, № L-242, reorganized departments. The main thrust of this reorganization was to improve the training of specialists with higher education, the introduction of a system of continuous education and creating a more accurate system of university management.
Given the new political and economic processes in 1995 was formed Department of Economics. The Institute began training on the new field of "commercial activity", "Economics and Enterprise Management".
Open Preliminary Faculty and guidance, which deals with improving the quality of entrants. Established and successfully operates technical school at MSTU. Created institute retraining of engineers and technicians.
Order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus № 198 of 17.05.2000, Mogilev Machine Building Institute was transformed into Mogilev State Technical University (MSTU).
In accordance with the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, signed in Mogilev 19.01.2001, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus № 3862/518 of 28.11.2001 and № 2102/206 of 15.05.2003, and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus № 371 of 23.09.2003 University converted into a state institution of higher professional education "of the Belarusian-Russian University (Belarus-Russian University).
Belarusian-Russian University is the largest regional scientific and educational center, which includes Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining, Architectural College and High School.
The structure of the university are six faculties of education:
and the Faculty of Pre-University and Career Guidance, comprised of 29 departments. The university has research sector, problem research laboratories and scientific production centers.
Training is carried out in 16 specialties and 31 specializations of the Belarusian educational standards and 5 specialties for Russian educational standards, Architectural College is preparing to 4, and PKI can be retrained and get a second degree in 9 specialties. Students of the University has more than 7500 people, the total number of students in all structural units of the university reaches 12000 people.
The educational process is conducted in seven academic buildings, equipped with modern teaching aids, the library fund has more than 1.5 million copies of textbooks and teaching aids. The University has a publishing center with a modern fleet of copiers.
Training of higher education through graduate, postgraduate and soiskatelstvo to 15 specialties. The university has a specialized council for PhD theses. Periodically, scientific journal "Bulletin of the Belarusian-Russian University and the collection of scientific papers, annual international scientific and technical conferences.
The University maintains relations with educational institutions, organizations and scientists from foreign countries: Australia, Bulgaria, Germany, Egypt, Nepal, Poland, Russia, Syria, Slovakia, USA, Ukraine, Sweden and Yugoslavia.
As part of the University fruitfully developing a system of continuous education process: Lyceum - Architectural College - University - Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining.
During this short period of time the university was prepared tens of thousands of engineers, of which thousands of people have received diplomas with honors. Our graduates work in various sectors of the economy of Belarus and abroad. Among them are a large number of directors of large enterprises and organizations, chief engineers, senior specialists. Many of the graduates work in government, security agencies and research institutions. Many continue their scientific activities, becoming candidates of science, doctors, professors.
