Study course: Nursing

Bachelor study of study programme Nursing in study course Nurse is a three-year study course and after its completion the graduates obtain the qualification to perform the medical profession. The tuition is performed in English language.

The main reason for realization of this kind of qualification study was the tendency to establish compatible educational programme with countries of the European Union, which will contribute to realization of new conception of nursing care oriented at active individualized care in hospital practice. In primary care it will contribute to healthy life style of inhabitants and diseases prevention. The content of curricula was set up to get the students obtained with all the knowledge and skills, which are necessary for providing the profession of general nurses, who are responsible for general nursing care. The output knowledge and skills which are obtained by students during the study are in accordance with basic competence criteria, which are defined in documents of the European Commission. These competences cover: care for children, youth, adults and seniors at acute and chronic health disorders, at somatic and psychological difficulties. It concerns hospitalised patients and outpatients also. Then the nurses must know how to protect, keep, return and support the health of individuals and groups; their autonomy and self-sufficiency in the sphere of physical and psychical life functions with regard to psychological, social, economic and cultural differences of way of life of disabled people. The length of professional preparation is 3 years and the number of preparation hours is 4600, from which 2300 hours is the practical part of tuition. In individual semesters the theoretical and practical blocks change. The content of study originates from the tuition about health, healthy individual and its relation to social surrounding. The nursing is focused on independent work of nurse in prevention, in care for development of self-sufficiency of a human being and in providing the individualized care by method of nursing process.

Practical tuition is performed in establishments of primary care and in clinical workplaces as well, which are chosen on the basis of defined standards. The practical training – 1st year is oriented at the sphere of primary care, ie. at health support and prevention of illnesses origin. The students will get acquainted with the structure of primary care services and with individual types of establishments in the frame of primary care. They will learn to assess the environment (material and social), in which people live, the risks for their health, and then they will get acquainted with the kinds of illnesses which are present in set environment, with the need of preventative measurements and methods of individual and group health education. They will learn to assess the health condition and the needs of clients in terms of nursing care. In other school-years the practical training is oriented at the sphere of secondary and tertiary care and it is focused on specialities of nursing process in clients at individual clinical departments. Then it is focused on elaboration of individual plan of nursing care in given clients. Currently the students will learn to render care in households by method of nursing process.

The subjects are in curricula divided into three groups: compulsory, facultative compulsory and elective. The students can choose from the list of facultative compulsory course units in accordance with their own interests and focus; however they must respect the relevant number of set credits, which they must obtain during the study of these groups of subjects. During the three-year study the student must obtain 180 credits (ECTS), from which the amount of 144 credits is for compulsory course units, 18 credits is for facultative compulsory course units and 18 credits for elective course units.

After completion of all duties, which are given by study plan of curricula, ie. successful termination of all subjects and obtaining of set amount of credits; the student can approach to state final examination, whose component is the defence of bachelor thesis. After successful graduation of state final examination the student will obtain the diploma, which will be handed to him/her within the frame of graduation ceremony. The students will be also given the Diploma Supplement, which is attached to university diploma for purpose of providing the sufficient and independent information about study courses with the aim to improve international transparency and to guarantee credible academic and profession approval of qualifications.

The graduates will find the use in outpatient and inpatient medical facilities. They will have the theoretical and practical qualification for management of nursing team, private practice or for management of nursing agencies.

Study course is a bachelor level three year course and its curricula is devided into compulsory, facultative and elective course units.



TUITION FEES
Faculty of Health and Social Studies offers selected study course in English for a tuition fee of 1 100 Eur per semester.

It covers all instruction (lectures, seminars, lab work, clinical training and tutorials); certain necessary texts such as laboratory manuals etc., and entitle students to use all faculty facilities including the library and a modern computer lab. The fee does not cover accommodation and meals. Other expenses not covered by the annual fee include a residence permit, and payments necessary for the translation and official recognition of secondary school certificates.

Please note that the tuition fees are revised annually and all fees are subject to change. The cost basis is annually set by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Czech Republic (CZ info only).

The part of properly fulfilled application form is the confirmation from general practitioner about health competence. If the application form has formal failings, the faculty will return it back to the applicant to correct or fulfil it. If the applicant in set term does not remove the mistakes, he did not fulfil the basic condition for admission. Those applicants who will not pay the set fee for administration in accordance to § 58 paragraph 1 of law and article 12 of Status within set deadline (till 15th March 2010) by bank transfer and will not enclose the proof of such payment,will not fulfil the basic condition for enrolment.


Applicants for bachelor study will enclose together with application for study the authentic copy of leaving certificate and validity of all information will be confirmed by affirmation at page 4 of this application.



ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS
Faculty of Health and Social Studies will arrange entrance examinations from 7th June to 11th June 2010. If you are invited to an examination, you will receive an invitation by post.


Preliminary examinations consists of:

written test from English language (50 questions);

written test of study groundwork (human biology, general knowledge – 50 questions).

Applicant can obtain 100 points at maximum.

Applicants who had passed these examinations: FCA or CAE (Cambridge) or Communicator or Expert (City and Guilds) don´t have to take the English language test.


Alternative date of preliminary examinations: 16th June 2010


Study in study course in academic year 2010/2011 will be open only in the case, when at least minimum of 10 accepted applicants will enrol and will be accepted for study. In other case the study course will not be opened.


Order of applicants and their achieved results will be published at office board in faculty building and at faculty internet pages since 23rd June 2010.

In accordance with § 50, section 6 the applicant has the right to consult his/her materials, which have bearings on selection process about his/her admission or non-admission for study at study department of faculty between 24th June 2009 – 25th June 2010 between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. and since 13 p.m. till 15 p.m.

Applicant has the right to appeal against the decision to the dean of faculty. The completed appealed forms must be submitted within 30 days from the date of its delivery. The dean can grant an application and change his decision, otherwise he will pass it on to the rector. The rector will change the decision of the dean which was issued contrary to law, internal rules of university or with the conditions defined in accordance with § 49, section 1 a 3 of the Act. Nr. 111/98 Collection. Otherwise he will reject the request and he will confirm the original resolution of the dean.

Study programme: ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT


Study course: Health and Social Care Management
Master study programme Economics and Management in study course Health and Social Care Management is a two-year study course. It is an international study programme, which was prepared in cooperation of three universities, Hochschule Bremen, University of Applied Sciences, University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics and University College for Health Studies and University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, Faculty of Health and Social Studies within the project of EU programme Socrates Erasmus.

The aim of the international master programme in management of health and social care is to develop knowledge and skills, i.e. key competences, which are essential for management of health, as well as social care. In this field it is very advisable to provide effective care even at that time, when there are some deficiencies within the frame of institutions. Problems, which are being solved, should not have the impact on the quality of provided services. The formulation of aims and content of study course was influenced by the fact, that the health sector is featured by fast technological development which affects the development of diagnostic and therapeutical procedures. Students obtain knowledge and skills which are essential towards professional negotiation in present and future development of dynamic, progressive and future focused market. The study will lead the students towards future work of control workers within the frame of socio-economic and health management.

In preparation of study course there were respected European, as well as national requirements/standards for preparation of this study course. Study course is compound of 15 modules. There are prepared quality e-learning pillars for 7 modules and the pillars for remaining modules will be printed. At the tuition there will cooperate qualified specialists from all participating universities. The tuition will take place in English language. The first three semesters are dedicated to theoretical tuition and the last forth semester is dedicated to preparation of diploma thesis. Within the frame of this preparation the student will be present at particular workplace, whereupon the theme of diploma thesis will be focused on. During the study the student will study minimally one semester (25%) at foreign partner university. If the student passes 50% of tuition at one partner foreign university, he will receive diploma from both universities, i.e. he will obtain double degree. Double degree enables students to obtain valuable competitive advantage at globalization labour market.
