Vaasan ammattikorkeakoulu (VAMK), University of Applied Sciences, is a multidisciplinary, multilingual and international institution providing higher education and research services within Technology and Communication, Business Economics and Tourism as well as Health Care and Social Services. VAMK has approximately 3,500 students enrolled and a staff of over 240 members.

The three Faculties of VAMK with their staff of highly qualified and professional teachers function as the backbone of higher education.

Business Economics and Tourism

The faculty of Business Economics and Tourism has a staff of 150 members and approximately 1470 students within the fields of

The faculty offers degree programmes in four languages and an international atmosphere.

Entrepreneurship, comprehensive way of thinking and independent work is emphasized in studies, and the professional studies provide students with competence for working life.

Health Care and Social Services

The Unit for Health Care and Social Services educates about 300 students in its degree programmes of nursing, public health nursing and social services.

The facilities of the unit are located in the centre of the city of Vaasa. Classrooms for theoretical and practical studies, an auditorium, a language lab, computer rooms, a library, a restaurant for students, a gym, offices and quiet rooms for personal studies form a uniquely pleasant and functional learning and working environment.

Classrooms for practical studies are equipped for simulation and demonstration of various health care exercises. Such facilities include an operating theatre, a recovery ward, facilities for paediatric, surgical, internal disease, basic, first aid, anatomical and physiological as well as psychiatric health care.

Internationality is distinctive for the Unit for Health Care and Social Services whose cooperation network includes partners in the Nordic countries, Spain, Thailand, England, Latvia and China.

The education in the faculty is characterized by principles of sustainable development and training for the challenges of rapidly changing global markets.

Most of the students' final theses are made in close cooperation with working life, which is enabled by established contacts within the industries region.

The main building for engineering education of VAMK was built in 1967, and is located on the Palosaari seaside campus in Vaasa.

The technology research centre Technobothnia, which is utilized by the faculty, provides the students with a quality and up-to-date study and training environment.
