Study at the Medical University of Vienna
The outsourcing of the medical faculty of Vienna on 1 January 2004 from the University of Vienna and the simultaneous establishment of the Medical University of Vienna has begun for the young university in a new era. As Austria's largest medical research institution with more than 5,000 employees it presents itself - equipped with modern corporate structure - the international competition and new challenges of medical science.

Teaching / research / patient care
Thanks to the successful and sometimes groundbreaking research and the implementation of a new medical curriculum (MCW) ultimately benefit every Viennese or Austrian by the work of scientists and doctors at the Medical University of Vienna. With Europe's largest hospital, the General Hospital Vienna (AKH), and several teaching hospitals as partners, the Medical University of Vienna is an important pillar of the Austrian health system.
2000 doctors are available 24 hours a day, the patients are available. The combination of basic research and clinical application (Translational Research) allows you to send for research in clinical trials to patients immediately good. 33 university hospitals treat about 100,000 patients hospitalized each year, 35,000 operations are carried out first aid and 440,000 people.

Great attention is placed on the brain and metabolic research.
