The Mozarteum University offers over 40 artistic and education courses in the fields of music, the performing and visual arts. 1,500 young artists from all over the world can find here a comprehensive training in all instruments, in composition, conducting, singing, musical theater, acting, directing, set design, music and dance education, art and craft education and in music education and musicology.
500 teachers, many of whom are internationally renowned artists and teachers, pass on their knowledge and their art and meet the university with a lively debate.
The history of the Mozarteum University goes back to 1841 and was marked by outstanding personalities such as Bernhard Paumgartner, Clemens Krauss, Paul Hindemith, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Carl Orff and Sándor Végh. The Mozarteum School of Salzburg Cathedral Music Society was founded. In 1914 it became the Conservatory, 1953 Academy, 1970 Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 1998 and finally University.
With international exchanges of teachers and students, scholarships, joint projects and exchange concerts Mozarteum University fosters international relations with associated music and art schools.
Students and teachers are part of the course together artistically active.
