Mission of the Foundation University of Hildesheim

The University of Hildesheim achieve its mission statement as a European university in respect for the liberal-democratic constitution of the Federal Republic of Germany and the special responsibility of the state of Lower Saxony. A particular concern is the equality of men and women and people of different social, ethnic and religious backgrounds.

University Profile

1st Profile. University as a profile focusing on selected areas of science education sciences and humanities. The range of subjects found in four subject areas organized: Educational and Social, Cultural and Aesthetic Communication, language and information sciences and natural sciences, math, economics and computer science.

2nd Research and teaching. We affirm our commitment to freedom of research and teaching. The continuous raising of our profile we provide excellent research facilities and the close link between research-based, theory-practice-teaching and on the employability of our graduates in the professional fields and aligned graduates studies. In research and teaching, we are guided by the standards of modern science that we own research and innovative teaching concepts by actively shaping

3rd Young Scientists. The University of Hildesheim promote scientific talent. Through high-quality research-oriented teaching, we already qualify students to perform independent scientific work. Young scientists, we offer the opportunity for further qualifications in teaching and research. Especially gifted and ready, we offer among others in graduate school special opportunities and challenges.

4th Interdisciplinarity. To the profile of the University of Hildesheim, is to foster interdisciplinarity. Funding is the intensive communication and networking between scientific disciplines and cultures of the university. Activities will encourage cooperation and exchanges with other universities.

5th Networking. We are regional, national and international partners from the fields of education, culture, economy and society with a network, for our students to promote personal development and to enhance their employability.

6th Internationalization. In research, study and teaching, we attach particular importance to university as a profile to international networks. So we create the conditions for internationally recognized research activities and also ensure the placement of current international and intercultural content into courses and teaching.

7th Life-long learning. We see our mission as a university to provide its life-long learning to assist people with. For this we offer training opportunities they first professional degree, and after initially working for their further development can use one for.

University students

13th Active participation. The university implemented a modern version of the old European universitas magistrorum et scholarium. Students will find an active and cooperative teaching and learning processes involved. We support and encourage their involvement in the development and improvement of teaching and study.

14th Care. The University of Hildesheim sees the study as a full time personal development. It therefore sets great value on students technically and personally to supervise and promote. Your employees see themselves as contact and discussion partners of the students and in teaching as their mentors.

15th Orientation knowledge and key qualifications. The University of Hildesheim want to ask questions and knowledge horizons of its students and constantly expand the open. Besides teaching science-based technical and methodological skills they therefore explicitly encourages key skills and an interdisciplinary introductory knowledge.

16th Scholarships. We promote high-powered students through scholarships under the Minerva Group. Students who have a fall in social distress, we support through our Social Fund and through the emergency fund for international students.

This model policy framework is defined for our actions. It is also as the starting point for an ongoing discussion on the development of tasks and goals of our university.
