The university, founded in 1973, the Bundeswehr Munich is basically the scientific training of officers and officer candidates. The number of students increased steadily: There are approximately 3,700 students enrolled, including about 360 women, about 150 foreign officers and foreign exchange students, and 50 civilian students.

The University consists of a university and a polytechnic sector. The trimester system, the study of short walks on the university campus and the individual care of students in small groups to enable academic success within a short time. After 3 years normal period, the students achieve a bachelor's degree after four years of intensive study in a Master's degree is possible. Good study conditions by a high-quality material and IT equipment, an excellently stocked library, mentoring and financial independence of the officer candidates and contenders take additional help in the short amount of time frame to complete the study successfully.

In addition to the specialized studies in the students are studium plus, an integrated monitoring program, curricular content knowledge, including key skills. They offer advantages in addition to studies major opportunity in the military and civilian careers.
