The Protestant University of Fribourg is a state-recognized university sponsored by the Evangelical Church in Baden. At the Protestant University of Freiburg (EH) is currently studying some 750 students. The core courses offered by the EH Freiburg currently form the Bachelor's degree social work, religious education / community education early childhood and Diakonia. The EH was in particular by new master degree programs in the last years of studies it - particularly in the area of training - heavy stretch before. The Protestant University of Freiburg, which has evolved over its history from a "Protestant woman vocational school for religious and social work" (1918) to a nationally recognized "School of Social Work, social welfare and religious education" (1971), was in 2004 by the Science accredited for the maximum amount of ten years. EH has in the last ZEIT / CHE-Ranking of May 2008 once again taken a place in the top group for the field of social work. In any ranking process, the EH has related to the technical quality of training received top ratings.
A state-recognized university in church-run
The preamble to the Constitution of the Protestant University of Freiburg, the object is determined: "The Evangelical Church in Baden has in fulfilling its mandate given by the Gospel and in recognition of their social responsibility, a training center for social and religious professions in Fribourg. Church sponsorship means that the university perceives in a specific way the mission of the Evangelical Church in Baden, contribute to social education and social form.
