KatHO NRW stands for practical teaching and research as well as personality and professionalism, which are based on the worldview of the Christian faith. With its offices in Aachen, Cologne, Münster and Paderborn is the largest state-recognized, private, religious university in Germany. funded institution established in 1971, the five university (arch) dioceses in NRW, it is for the most part by the state of NRW.


The KatHO NRW provides its 3,500 students, targeted to work in a personal atmosphere. provide almost 100 teachers and 300 lecturers knowledge, skills and attitudes in the fields of social, health and theology. The course is structured so that the students share their own priorities and further develop their own personality. The KatHO NRW cooperates with many universities in the can at home and abroad, and with practice points, in which students test their knowledge and reflect.


The KatHO NRW makes a significant contribution to investigate social problems, develop solutions and bring their results into practice. Particularly pronounced are the areas of nursing research, addiction and prevention research, health and social psychiatry, transcultural and gender, and age and disability.

Bachelor courses

Whether Social Work, Nursing Science or Religious Education: All degree courses at the NRW KatHO provide students with a sound, basic academic, supplemented by an in-depth practical component. Students can choose from a range of five bachelor degree programs in the fields of social work, health, and theology at the four locations in Aachen, Cologne, Münster and Paderborn.

Master courses

As consecutive Masters offers the KatHO NRW, the research study "special education" and "social work". The latter is offered at all four locations with different priorities.
The eight post-graduate Master courses in the fields of health and social services may constitute a useful complement or further qualification to the profession. Most Masters courses can be studied part-time. The successful completion of the right to promotion.
