University description (as per official university website)

Who we are

The HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration is the university of choice for the Hamburg business community. We teach cutting-edge theory, immerse students in international experiences, and connecte them to best practice in business and policy. This learning experience transforms the way our graduates view the world and helps them devlop skills and insights to chart its future.

With its dual system courses of study in Business Administration, Media Management, Logistics Management and Shipping and Ship Finance, the HSBA offers unique opportunities for high-level study with a curriculum designed and continually optimized in close cooperation with its partner companies.

The part-time Masterís programs, Business Administration and Honourable Leadership MBA, and Global Management and Governance M.A, complement our range of courses. Our aim is to train HSBA students to become resilient, internationally mobile and performance-oriented junior executives, capable of handling the challenges of rapid technological, economic and social change.

The HSBA, the university of the Hamburg business community, displays expertise in practice as well as in theory. Cooperating with more than 170 companies, we provide a challenging study programme for over 500 students that culminates in a range of internationally recognised degrees. The HSBA is supported by a non-profit private limited company lead-managed by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

Our principles
Dual = ideal
We, the members of the HSBA, pursue the goal to that our graduates, through the transaction between the two places of learning - university and company - contribute decisively to making their organisation fit for the future and thus participate in shaping social change.

The HSBA as a forum for cooperation
All of us who are involved in the HSBA contribute in his or her way to supporting the students as the central members of the university at the various places of learning. We all cooperate with one another in this process in the awareness that only by everybody working together with a maximum degree of transparency can the goal be achieved.

The HSBA for personality development
We design studies, teaching and research in such a way that we support our students professionally with a practical orientation and in the same way develop their personal, social and methodical competence.

The HSBA as a sign of quality
By means of continuous improvement processes, we ensure the best possible conditions for studying. We take pleasure in achievement. The students share responsibility for the course and results of their studies. They are ambassadors of the HSBA in the companies and in public.

The HSBA for open-mindedness
We open the gateway to the world for our students. Every members of our university stands for ethical values, internationality and tolerance.

The principles of the HSBA should be the ideas to which all members of the university orient their daily thoughts and actions, a vision which leads them in their work and which they may be reminded of.
