University description (as per official university website)

Courses at the FH Worms

Are you interested in studying at the university in Worms?

The colleges are in the tradition of the former trade schools and technical colleges, in which 19th Century, the academic training of economists and engineers began. After World War I, most of these schools were integrated into universities. Thus began a steady theorizing and extension of the study, which continues to this day. The early seventies, the universities were under pressure from the business practice reestablished as an independent universities in order to ensure a vocation-oriented and practical training.

The colleges attract today its special profile in the German university by the following factors:

They provide practical and vocational course content and also a meaningful level of theory.
The professors have both a theory-qualification, as evidenced by the promotion and other scientific publications must also possess at least five years practical experience in business or management.
The study Polytechnic diploma courses in eight semesters, in Bachelor's degrees in six semesters, and master's programs for four semesters, most of what types of institutions and courses in the European Union is the uniform for. The college courses are compared to many university programs in that period but also really studiability. The colleges that already meet the current demands of the actual educational policy for shorter periods of study and a significantly earlier age of entry of the German academic to professional life to the European labor market has grown to be on the competition.
The colleges offer in comparison to the mass higher education better study conditions by manageable units (the Fachhochschule Worms has 2,600 students) and small groups of about semester 40-70 students.
Applied research is now provided in addition to teaching in the polytechnic law. From the best combination of research and teaching, the students benefit from the ability to keep track research projects or even actively contributing to it.
The opportunities in the labor market for college graduates because of the practicality and the shorter training periods often better than the chances of the theory-graduate courses. Starting salaries vary in business with a modern personnel and wage policy does not depend on those of other university courses.
The colleges understand the academic reform as an ongoing commitment within which outdated course content or teaching methods are eliminated and to create new course content and programs are.
