Fachhochschule Nordostniedersachsen
Lüneburg, Germany

University description (as per official university website)

The University of Lüneburg is a young university, which is a mirror of Higher Education in Germany: We're looking at 60 years institutional history at a site that has a centuries-long history of education. Founded in 1946 in Lüneburg on the initiative of a British educational institution. It should contribute by training teachers to build a new democratic tradition in Germany.

The PH Lüneburg was - after years as a department of the University of Education Lower Saxony - in 1978 alone to a university with doctoral and postdoctoral law. In the eighties, the professional spectrum was expanded by the Economic, Social and Cultural Studies, in the nineties, founded an environmental science department. To this day include the UNESCO Chair for Sustainability and the world's first MBA to corporate sustainability management.

The University of Lüneburg was one of the first five universities in Germany public foundation. She is so independent. In 2005, the University of Lüneburg and the University Nordostniedersachsen were merged. This resulted in some areas to complement and to a further increase of the professional spectrum: the automation and the areas of business law and business psychology. References to the practice are therefore now important, and the award as gründerfreundlichste University in Germany is an outward sign of this.

In 2006 a fundamental restructuring has been approved and initiated. Implemented the new model of university study and was Leuphana University 2007th The changes started with the establishment of the college for a Bachelor's degree. The following year, the Graduate College has begun its work. In addition, interdisciplinary research centers and created a Professional School for continuing education courses such as business collaborations.

The University has today in Lüneburg on three sites: the central campus at the Scharnhorststraße features in its architecture with its traditional brick buildings from the modern, light-filled lecture hall and library buildings and the gardens and green areas of the biotope. Well over a hundred rooms in the dormitories of the Student Association and the Association of Campus students are on the campus.

In the center of the site is a brick red box from the imperial era, which was used at the beginning of last century for educational purposes. Modernity and technology dominate the site Volgershall: Over a length of 200 meters covering a hall there, which is used among others for test set of automation technology.
