The College of Engineering, Business and Culture of Leipzig was founded in 1992 as a university of applied sciences. It is thus continuing a long tradition of engineering educational institutions and training centers for librarians, booksellers, and museum curators in Leipzig. With more than 6,800 students, it is one of the largest universities in Germany.
The application and future-oriented degree programs in engineering, economics and social sciences, media, information and cultural studies and computer science and mathematics leading to advanced academic degrees such as Bachelor and Master.
All faculties collaborate in research and development with companies from the region and guarantee a practical education.

The College of Engineering, and opportunities (HTWK) is one of the leading universities in Saxony and is establishing itself an indispensable part of European higher education landscape.
The engineering, economic and cultural traditions justify the particular variety of the combined disciplines at our university.
Students, faculty and staff are partners in science education and research. Our graduates are responsible for the service providers of professional experience in business and society. This is achieved by application, scientific research, a fact-based teaching and the capacity for lifelong learning.
The principle of networking is the framework for the implementation of our strategic objectives. Here we focus on the following four actions:
1ST SCIENTIFIC NETWORKING
The interdisciplinary teaching and research and systematic cooperation with partners in science, business, administration and culture mark the HTWK. We establish innovative programs to make them from practical and developing our courses according to the requirements of society.
2ND REGIONAL NETWORKING
The HTWK acts as an innovation partner for companies, administration and culture and sees itself as a catalyst for local and regional initiatives. In the Leipzig region, it is the engineering center of excellence.
As a major, academic education providers in the region, we support all areas of education from early childhood education to advanced training.
3RD INTERNATIONAL NETWORKING
The strategic development of international relations is a fundamental principle of our cosmopolitan university. The HTWK promotes intercultural competence of all university members. We support the mobility of our domestic and international students through targeted programs of study. Our professors and staff participating in the development and expansion of international research and teaching cooperations.
4TH SOCIAL NETWORKING
We design the university as a vital center of communications and education.
Alumni, Emeriti and former employees to remain permanently connected to our alma mater.
We achieve integration and equality. Especially foreign students, families and people with disabilities is our attention.
Together in partnership in social responsibility includes the promotion of identification, motivation and performance.
