Curtin University of Technology
Perth, Australia

University description (as per official university website)

Curtin University of Technology is Western Australia's largest university. Around 40,000 students attend a total of 16 Curtin locations, including campuses in Sydney, Singapore and East Malaysia. Curtin applies the philosophy of its namesake, former Australian Prime Minister John Curtin (1941 - 1945), who said:

"The great university ... should look ever forward; for it the past should be but a preparation for the greater days to be".

Vision
To be an international leader shaping the future through our graduates and research, and positioned among the top 20 universities in Asia by 2020.

Mission
Curtin is committed to innovation and excellence in teaching and research, for the benefit of our students and the wider community.

Values
Integrity - being consistently honest and trustworthy in all activities;
Respect - having regard for self and others;
Fairness - ensuring just decisions through open decision-making;
Care - acting to ensure the welfare of others.

Whoever you are,
Wherever you're from.

At Curtin, everything we do is designed with one overarching goal in mind: to have a positive effect on our students and the wider community. In order to achieve that goal we provide students and staff with a welcoming environment that's founded on four core values:

Integrity - being consistently honest and trustworthy in all activities;
Respect - having regard for self and others;
Fairness - ensuring just decisions through open decision-making;
Care - acting to ensure the welfare of others.
As a demonstration of our commitment to equal opportunity, we have established a range of policies and support services to ensure all students and staff, irrespective of race, gender, beliefs or culture, receive fair and just treatment.

With more than 7,000 international students studying in Australia, Curtin offers a unique cross-cultural experience. Socially and academically students become part of an international network that provides friendship, information and advice for a lifetime.

As a Curtin student, you can participate in a variety of multicultural events that occur throughout the year. Multicultural Week celebrates Curtin's cultural diversity, culminating with Pasar Malam (Malay for 'night market') which attracted thousands of people in 2007 with its incredible variety of international foods and performance.

Other multicultural events held at Curtin include:

Mexican Independence Day
Mamak Night
Market Day
Mundjah Day
Oktoberfest
Curtin also promotes religious diversity. Christian services are held on campus at the weekends and the Mushalla is a dedicated prayer space where Muslims can celebrate their faith.
