Established in 1964, Macquarie University is a public research university located in Sydney, Australia. The main campus is spread upon 126 hectares of land in Macquarie Park. The university offers classes in overseas campuses in Singapore as well as Hong Kong. Macquarie University's recent enrollments have been more than 31,000 students every year.
Macquarie University offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in various fields of study. There were previously nine academic divisions of the university, however these divisions have been replaced by the following four faculties:
Faculty of Arts
Faculty of Business and Economics
Faculty of Human Sciences
Faculty of Science
With over 50 recognized clubs and organizations, students of the university are able to enjoy an active life. Among the on-campus societies are the Actuarial Students Society, Anime MQ, Dramac, Mac Clubbers United, Macquarie Campus International Dynamics, Rotaract MQ, and The W.A.N.G. Club. In addition, the university offers sports programs in baseball, Australian football, badminton, hockey, fencing, cricket, rugby, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, water polo, rowing, and squash.
According to the 2008 edition of The Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Academic Ranking of World Universities, Macquarie University placed at the 7th position among all universities in Australia. The ‘Good University Guide’ of Australian University states that the starting salaries for graduates of this university have been the highest in Australia from the year 1998 to 2007.
