University description (as per official university website)
As everyone realizes when they come to important crossroads in their lives, there are many choices and paths that you might take. At Eston College, we seek to provide you with necessary tools needed to do ministry and life well. Our prayer is that each student grows in their relationship with God and others and find great fulfillment in doing so. Eston College is located in rural Saskatchewan and our unique location allows for closer interaction with staff, other students, and the entire community. Because of a smaller student body, there are greater opportunities for you to step out and discover both your natural talents and spiritual giftings. Be it through study, prayer, athletics, outreach or a variety of social events and extracurricular activities: you will learn more about yourself, your world, and your creator. At Eston College, you will never be just another face.
Full Gospel Bible Institute was born as a pastoral and
missionary training centre founded on the Word
of God. The vision was to integrate the message of
Godís grace and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
In July of 1943, at Trossachs Bible Camp, both Glen McLean and Ron Burnside discovered that they shared
an urgency to provide biblical training to prepare pastors, evangelists and missionaries for full time ministry.
Five men were appointed to provide direction and take hold of founding a Bible school for the Full Gospel Missions Fellowship. These fi ve were: Glen McLean, Lorne Prichard, Ron Burnside, Elmer Powers and Harold Hollands. Later, George Bailey, Wardy Johnston and Albert Marshall were added to the leadership team.
Land was purchased in Eston, Saskatchewan, and the Full Gospel Bible Institute opened its doors on November
6, 1944 to its fi rst 6 students. In 1948 Full Gospel Bible Institute adopted the motto ďTo Know the Scriptures and the Power of GodĒ based on the words of Jesus in Matthew 22:29. Throughout the years the Full Gospel Bible Institute expanded. Dormitories, an administration building, education wing, kitchen and chapel were added. The student body consisted of the 6 students in 1944 and currently maintains
an average of 80 students per year. More than 3300 alumni/ae have left an indelible mark on the world through their commitment to serve Christ.
Over its 65 year history, Eston College has had 5 presidents; Glen McLean (1944-1983), Alan Mortenson
(1983-1997), Todd Atkinson (1997-1999), Lauren Miller (1999-2008) and Brian Fuller (2008-present).
In May 2007 our name was changed to Eston College and in February 2008 we received full accreditation with the Association for Biblical Higher Education.
It is exciting to see Godís faithfulness through the years. As we look to the future we are reminded of our call to disciple each student who passes through the doors of Eston College.
