Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning
Kitchener, Canada

University description (as per official university website)

Connect life and learning in ways that can lead you to a bright future - choose Conestoga.

A Conestoga education is closely linked with business, industry and the community. Our friends in business and industry help us develop programs that reflect current and future career directions, relevant both to their needs and to economic development.

You learn from faculty who have real-world experience and expertise in their chosen fields, and whose primary focus is teaching. You develop and apply your skills individually and in student teams through real-world situations and projects.

Our commitment to excellence and relevance is evident -- for nine consecutive years, independent province-wide surveys of Ontario college students, graduates and employers have revealed Conestoga as the provinces #1 rated college. For the past three consecutive years, Conestoga has led the way in Ontario for graduate employment success.

When you choose your educational future, I hope you will select Conestoga - an institution that offers quality, service and a record of student achievement based on a firm grasp of the present and an exciting vision of the future.

John Tibbits
President, Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning

From our humble early beginnings as a community college in 1967, Conestoga has risen to become one of Canada's premier polytechnic institutes. We offer advanced applied education, and research leading to the commercialization of innovation in southwestern Ontario. For nine of the last eleven years independent research has named Conestoga as the number one publicly funded college in Ontario!

Our largest campus (Doon) in Kitchener is located right next to highway 401 on 138 acres of land and offers a full range of programming. Our Waterloo campus is a centre of excellence for skilled trades and culinary. Our Guelph campus has emerged as a provincial leader in motive power trades. We also have smaller campuses in Stratford and Cambridge offering academic upgrading and career focused programs.

We are also adding a brand new campus just south of the 401 across from our Doon campus. This exciting new campus will eventually add another 1,000,000 square feet of learning space and house most of our Engineering Technology programs. The first phase will open in the fall of 2011 and has been supported by all levels of government.

Conestoga, established in 1967, has been the number one rated College in Ontario for nine of the last eleven years.

Our graduate job placement rate is an amazing 94.2% six months after graduation.

Conestoga is an outstanding polytechnical institute and a founding member of Polytechnics Canada

Full-time Students: 8,500

Apprenticeship Students: 4,000

Part-time Students: 38,000

40% of all adults in Waterloo Region have taken at least one course at Conestoga.

Our graduates annually pump $1.4 billion into the local economy.

We offer 120 full-time programs, 37 apprenticeship related programs, 7 four-year bachelor degree programs, 3 collaborative degrees, 25 post-graduate certificates and over 100 part-time programs.

Conestoga has six campuses: Doon (Kitchener), Waterloo, Guelph, Stratford, Cambridge and Ingersoll.

Conestoga’s loan default rate is the lowest in the province at 6.8%. We attribute this, at least partially, to the fact so many of our students get excellent jobs after graduation! Last year Conestoga handed out $20 million in student loans.

College President, Dr. John Tibbits, joined Conestoga in 1987.

The Doon campus features a beautiful forest in the middle of the campus.
