British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)
Vancouver, Canada

University description (as per official university website)

BCIT doesn’t operate the same way as other institutions. As a polytechnic, we have several different paths that you can take to career success, and each one has its own set of requirements, guidelines and processes.

Depending on how you have chosen to complete your studies (full-time, part-time, by distance & online learning, etc.) or the type of program or credential you are interested in (apprenticeship, degree, etc.), there will be a slightly different set of steps you must follow to apply to BCIT.

We have provided a step-by-step checklist for each of BCIT’s major delivery options and credentials:

» apply to a full-time program
» apply to an apprenticeship program
» apply to a part-time program
» apply to a degree program

There are also some additional requirements and conditions for international students interested in studying at BCIT.

Most programs require Grade 12 graduation with specific Grade 11 and Grade 12 subjects. Some programs also have non-academic requirements such as attending an information session, submitting a resume or participating in an interview. To be eligible for admission, you must meet the minimum academic prerequisites and all other entrance requirements identified by your specific program.

To find specific entrance requirements for your program:

Search our online program database for program details
Download BCIT's Viewbook to review program requirements
Order a copy of BCIT’s Viewbook
You must submit documents showing you have completed the required prerequisite courses with the specified grades. This rule applies to all applicants whether you have been educated within Canada or outside of Canada.

Mature Students
A person will be considered for admission as long as they meet or exceed the program entrance requirements.

Upgrading
If you do not meet the specified entrance requirements for the program to which you are applying, BCIT provides options for upgrading. Most programs will still consider your application while you are in the process of upgrading to meet entrance requirements. Find out what to submit with your application if you are currently upgrading. However, some programs have specific deadline dates for all entrance requirements to be met. Please check the entrance requirements for your choice of programs to see if a deadline has been set.

Determining eligibility
If are unsure that you meet all requirements for your chosen program, submit your application and the Admissions department will notify you if you are missing any requirements.
