Santa Rosa Junior College
Santa Rosa, United States- California

University description (as per official university website)

When you first visit Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC), it is likely you will sense the difference that distinguishes SRJC as one of the nation's premier community colleges.

SRJC is dedicated to the democratic ideal of making higher education accessible to all, and our college community works to ensure a positive and inclusive experience for students and staff alike. This is achieved by creating a dynamic learning environment and maintaining a climate that is conducive to the elimination of barriers to student success.

We offer intellectual and cultural opportunities designed to maximize the academic and creative ideas, skills, and talents of our student body, staff, and faculty. Members of SRJC reflect an unwavering belief that each student is a unique individual requiring a special combination of academic opportunities, support services, career and college counseling, and peer instructional support, as delivered through broad student services that range from college preparatory classes to an unrivaled financial aid package that features the Thomas Doyle and Polly O'Meara Doyle Trust Scholarship Fund through the Exchange Bank.

The Sonoma County Junior College District is one of the largest single college districts in the country, serving approximately 40,000 students each semester within a 1,600 square mile service region that is bordered to the west by the Pacific Ocean, to the east by Napa and Lake counties, and extending from southern Mendocino County to the northern tip of Marin County. Sonoma County's exquisite landscapes offer diverse recreational activities close to vineyards, lakes, rivers, and the Pacific coastline. Renowned for its wine industry and tourist attractions, Santa Rosa has traditionally drawn many talented citizens to its substantial urban amenities of fine schools and colleges, business centers, general hospitals, local theatres, performing arts centers, and the Santa Rosa Symphony.

SRJC offers comprehensive transfer preparatory and career training programs at dozens of sites, including two beautiful campuses in Petaluma and Santa Rosa that are located 35 and 52 miles north of San Francisco, respectively. Both the oak-studded Santa Rosa Campus, which is largely characterized by elegant turn-of-the-century brick buildings on over 100 acres, and the 40-acre contemporary adobe style Petaluma Campus, offer a distinct and welcoming atmosphere that is highly conducive to student learning and to employment.

The college operates a self-sustaining 365-acre Shone Farm near the Russian River, a progressive Technology Academy in Telecom Valley, a new student run gourmet Culinary Arts Center in downtown Santa Rosa, and a top flight Public Safety Center Training Center in Windsor. SRJC has international education programs in Europe and Central America, conference winning athletic programs, nationally ranked speech and debate teams, a national recognized Summer Repertory Theatre, Planetarium, the Jesse Peter Native American Museum, and Art Gallery.

SRJC is also experiencing expansion with the construction of a multistory parking facility and a four-story centerpiece library on the Santa Rosa Campus to house a vast collection of books, materials, and artwork. The expansion of the Petaluma Campus and numerous upgrades of various facilities are also underway.

We hope that when you visit Santa Rosa Junior College you will not only enjoy the remarkable beauty of the College and region, but also experience an atmosphere of exploration and opportunity in a learning community that's alive with excitement and expectation.

We appreciate your interest in our College and invite you to experience the difference that makes our SRJC students, faculty and staff feel so much a part of our enriching college community.

Financial Aid

Paying Your Way Through College!

Welcome to Santa Rosa Junior College's Financial Aid Services Web site. SRJC students are exactly why the Financial Aid office is here! The Financial Aid staff looks forward to helping you discover the many ways to help make college affordable.

The purpose of financial aid programs is to remove financial barriers that may prevent you from pursuing your educational goals. By working on your application together, we can help you know exactly how to pay your way through college and you can reach your goals more quickly.

When you access financial assistance at SRJC, you will begin to tailor your educational path to fulfill your aspirations, whether you want to transfer to a four-year university, earn a job skills certificate in nearly 150 programs, or earn an associate degree.

Assistance That's Right For You!

Financial Aid programs attempt to fill the gap that may exist between the cost of education and the money available to students from family, employment, savings, and other resources. SRJC's Financial Aid programs assist students who might otherwise be unable to continue their education due to financial hardship.

We offer a variety of financial aid programs that are funded by government and private sources to help you get through college. These include grants, work-study opportunities, scholarships, and loan programs. Since there are so many ways to finance your education, SRJC's Financial Aid Office can provide key information to help you access the kind of assistance to meet your unique needs.

We sincerely hope that you will count on us to help you through the entire financial aid process!
