About the School

The Art Institutes is a system of over 40 design schools throughout North America that offer graduate and undergraduate degrees as well as diploma and certificate programs. Curriculums are available in the fields of fashion, media arts, design and the culinary arts. The parent company of The Art Institutes, Education Management Corporation, was established more than 40 years ago, With more than 100,000 students Education Management is one of the largest private providers of postsecondary education in the US.

The school states that its programs include industry-current equipment and software. In addition, The Arts Institutes collaborates with local and national employers to design industry-relevant programs. Students create portfolios as part of their education and as a resource for showing prospective employers. Some programs include internship and externships as part of a student's education.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available to those who qualify, and our trained staff is here to help you through the application process and all the paperwork. Explore this section of the site to get familiar with the process and the types of financial aid.

Then, to find out if you are eligible for assistance, it is important to contact a Financial Aid Representative at The Art Institutes location you want to attend. The representative will ask you to bring along financial information. Together, you'll assess the total cost of your education and housing; help you find scholarships, federal grants, loans, state aid, veterans' benefits, private loans and work study; and make a determination how much of your costs may be covered through financial assistance.

As soon as you enroll in school, you should apply for financial aid. Some aid is limited and is more likely to be available if you apply early. You will find the appropriate application forms in your enrollment packet. Continuing students should apply as soon as possible after the new year's FAFSA form is distributed. Application deadlines are announced yearly.

Looking for the FAFSA code for an Art Institutes school?
Select a location below to find the FAFSA code to include in your financial aid application materials.

If you see two FASFA codes above, please include Federal School Codes on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for both our current school (the first number) and for our school’s proposed main campus (the second number) in the 1st College and 2nd College spaces on the form. Including both codes on your form will minimize interruption in financial aid you may depend on for your education.

The Student Financial Services Department will assist you in applying for any aid for which you may be eligible. However, it is your responsibility to make sure that the aid funds are received by the school.

And we can work with you. The Art Institutes will defer payment on your bill for the amount to be covered by financial aid, as long as you've submitted the required paperwork, your eligibility for the aid has been confirmed and you have agreed to a Student Financial Plan for paying any balance due to the school that is not covered by financial aid.

Eligibility

ONE: We estimate the total cost of your education. Your total costs are broken down into direct and indirect costs.

* "Direct" costs include tuition, fees and some supplies.
* "Indirect" costs include food, transportation, personal expenses and some supplies. Standard budget figures (available for review in the Student Financial Services Department) are used to estimate indirect costs, based on where you will live when you attend school.
* Housing can be considered part of either the direct or indirect costs, depending on your living arrangements. The Housing Services Department can provide you with information on school-sponsored and independent housing.

TWO: We add up all of the resources for which you are eligible and that can be used to pay educational costs. This can include scholarships, federal grants and loans, state aid, private loans, veterans benefits, etc.

THREE: We subtract all of the available resources from the total estimated "direct" costs of your education. The difference is the amount that can be covered through the student financial planning process.
Deferring payments

It is the policy of The Art Institutes to defer payment on your bill for an amount that will be covered by financial aid, as long as these requirements are met:

* All of the required paperwork has been completed.
* Your eligibility for the type of financial aid and amount has been confirmed.
* You have agreed to a Student Financial Plan for paying any balance due to the school that is not covered by financial aid.

The Student Financial Services Department at your school will assist you in applying for any aid for which you may be eligible. However, it is your responsibility to make sure that the aid funds are received by the school.
