The History of San Diego Christian College
San Diego Christian College was founded in 1970 as Christian Heritage College by Drs. Tim LaHaye, Art Peters, and Henry Morris, who desired to equip students through an education that trains both mind and heart. The first degrees were awarded in 1973. Soon after, the college moved campuses and now shares a 32 acre complex with Shadow Mountain Community Church.
In 1976 Christian Heritage College was awarded the status of Candidate for Accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and was given full Accreditation in 1984. The college is also a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).
In 2005, Christian Heritage College became San Diego Christian College. While the name has changed, the mission to engage Christians in an academic community that offers a liberal arts education, promotes an environment of scholarship, and fosters the examination of truth, preparing them to influence the world through Godly character within a framework of the authority and inerrancy of Scripture continues.
Financing Your Education
An education at San Diego Christian College is worth the investment. The Financial Aid Office at San Diego Christian College endeavors to make multiple aid programs available to assist you in meeting your educational expenses and strives to make a Christian education affordable through various grants and scholarships. Over 95% of SDCC students receive financial assistance through a variety of programs. Our goal is to make a quality Christian education a reality.
While the primary responsibility of financing their education rests with the students and their families, we realize that often students require assistance to make a private education a reality. San Diego Christian College offers many sources for financial aid.
All students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov in order to determine eligibility and need. Depending on the source, student recipients of financial aid are determined on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, leadership promise, vocational objective and other criteria.
There are several types of Financial Aid available at San Diego Christian College. See the following links for more information.
