University description (as per official university website)

Greensboro College, a four year, independent, coeducational institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church, was founded in 1838. The College enrolls nearly 1,300 students from approximately 27 states and 16 nations. The average class size is 16 and the student faculty ratio is 14 to one.

The College is known for its individual concern for students, strong academic advising program, a convenient location within blocks of the city of Greensboro, cocurricular portfolio program, nationally recognized intercollegiate athletics and leadership development programs.

Greensboro College is nestled on 70 acres of tree-lined grounds in a historical district bordering downtown Greensboro. The city is served by the Piedmont-Triad International Airport, AMTRAK, and Interstate highways 40 and 85.

Disciplinary Majors

Accounting, art, athletic training, biology, birth through kindergarten education, business administration and economics, chemistry, criminal justice, elementary education, English and communication studies, English, exercise and sport studies, French, history, history and political science, mathematics education, mathematics, middle grades education, music education, music, physical education, political science, psychology, religion, sociology, Spanish, special education, and theatre.

Greensboro College welcomes applications from qualified international students. The application procedures are the same as those for secondary school graduates or transfer students, with the exception of test requirements. International students must prove English proficiency in one of three ways: satisfactory scores on the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), a written score of 550, a computer score of 213 or an internet score of 79 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or successful completion of the 109 level at any ELS Language Center.

International students may only be admitted into degree-seeking programs and must plan to be enrolled as a full-time student throughout the duration of their studies.

Greensboro College has limited merit-based financial aid available for international students on a first-come, first-served basis. Students with outstanding academic preparation are considered to be the strongest candidates.

Greensboro College evaluates each student's application for admission to determine eligibility for merit-based aid. Prospective students are evaluated on high school or previous college grade point average, SAT or ACT score, strength of the curriculum, extracurricular activities, demonstration of leadership and community service participation.

Greensboro College also offers Fine Arts Scholarships in music, theatre and art to students with outstanding talents.
