Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine opened its doors September 12, 1983. The College is proud to be celebrating its 25th year of excellence in acupuncture education.
Located in Santa Monica, a progressive seaside community in Southern California, the campus provides students with access to ocean and mountains, public transportation, bike paths and clean air.
Emperor's College is renowned for its distinguished and diverse instructors, strong curriculum and consistent high pass rate on California's Licensing Board exam.

The mission of Emperorís College is to cultivate brilliant healers, teachers, and leaders in Oriental Medicine who create the future of health care by word, deed, and through partnerships.
The use of ďbrilliantĒ conveys the intellectual and spiritual intent of our institution, as well as our expectations for our graduates. It is a bold, audacious word, with connotations of light and enlightenment, reflecting the Taoist origins of the medicine, and conveying our vision of shining this medicine throughout the world.
The Goals of the College are to:
1. Train students to successfully apply Oriental medicine to treat within national and California scopes of practice.
2. Prepare students to function effectively within the modern healthcare system.
3. Graduate doctors and practitioners of acupuncture and Oriental medicine who advance the field of Oriental medicine.
4. Provide a community clinic that serves the health and well-being of the College and the public.
5. Provide an outreach program that will increase the awareness of the philosophy and practice of Oriental medicine.
6. House a library that will serve as a resource for the College and the public.
7. Support our alumni in their professional development.
Graduate school is a significant investment of time and money for anybody, and Emperorsí Financial Aid department understands this well. That is why a two-person team is committed to providing students with the financial aid resources needed to meet the educational costs of attending the masterís degree program in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine.
Emperorís College offers two types of federal financial aid programs:
* Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans through the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP)
* Federal Graduate PLUS loans
Most students of the acupuncture and Chinese medicine program are eligible for federal financial aid as long as they are US citizens or permanent residents, complete a minimum of 8 credit units per quarter at Emperorís College, are in good standing with previous federal educational loans and grants and have completed all necessary components of the federal financial aid FAFSA application.
Throughout the academic year, the Financial Aid Office provides informational workshops as well as literature on several topics specific to student borrowers, some of which include entrance and exit counseling, financial planning, and loan consolidation. We encourage all students to take advantage of these valuable sessions.
Because of the expertise of our Financial Aid officers, Emperorís College alumni who have a very low loan default rate. Our graduates go on to successful careers in acupuncture and Oriental medicine and easily repay their federal educational loans without difficulty.

Private loans can also be obtained for Emperorsí acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine graduate program, but private loans should only be considered after federal financial aid options are fully explored.
Scholarships offered by Emperorís College as well as outside sources, such as corporations and private individuals, also become available on a limited basis. The Financial Aid Office keeps students abreast of the information regarding these funds and also does their best to seek out additional scholarship opportunities for graduate studies in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine.
The Financial Aid Office implements an ethical approach of administering financial aid and maintains integrity as stewards of the federal financial aid programs. The goal of our staff is to provide equity and consistency in the delivery of financial aid funds. Our guidelines model the Federal Student Aid Handbook and all staff is reliably kept abreast of federal and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures.
