Geneseo became an original campus of the State University of New York in 1948. It is one of 13 university, or four-year colleges in the SUNY system. Geneseo offers 54 degree programs in disciplines ranging from comparative literature to computer science.
SUNY Geneseo has carved an impressive niche among the nation's public colleges. The most selective of the State University of New York's comprehensive colleges, and considered to be SUNY's Honors College, Geneseo offers a professionally focused education that's comparable in quality to the educational experience available at many of the nation's finest private colleges and universities.
With nearly 10 applicants for every position in the freshman class, Geneseo ranks among the two or three most selective public undergraduate colleges
in the nation, and among the top 10% of all colleges and universities.
