University description (as per official university website)

Mid-Plains Community College, also popularly known as MPCC, was founded by the Nebraska legislation that was enacted between 1973 and 1975. MPCC was created by merging three pre-existing and independent institutions. These institutions were the McCook Junior College, North Platte Junior College, and Mid-Plains Vocational Technical School.

At present, Mid-Plains Community College serves an 18-county area through a network of primary campuses located at McCook and North Platte, and satellite campuses at Broken Bow, Ogallala, Imperial, and Valentine. MPCC offers Associate degrees in Arts, Science, Applied Science, and General Studies. It also awards certificates and diplomas in a number of career oriented programs in technical fields. MCC also operates a highly successful online education program.

North Platte Community College has two campuses.

The NORTH CAMPUS was identified as the VOC-TECH CAMPUS for many years. With changes in focus, the facilities on the North Campus now house other programs and opportunities other than just vocational-technical programs. The North Platte Campuses have grown to serve over 1200 academic transfer and vocational program students. The dedication and support by citizens and alumni speak well for the institution and its programs.
The North Campus central facility was constructed in 1970 and enlarged in 1972. Adjacent shop buildings have subsequently been added throughout the past ten years.
A variety of technical educational programs are available on the North Campus in health, transportation, building construction, electronics and information technology.

The SOUTH CAMPUS was identified as the McDONALD-BELTON CAMPUS for many years. With changes in focus, the facilities on the South Campus now house business, medical, Information Technology, along with other programs and opportunities other than just academic transfer programs.North Platte Community College's South Campus has grown to serve over 3,250 academic transfer and vocational program students. The dedication and support by citizens and alumni speak well for the institution and its programs.
The NPCC's South Campus was partially constructed in 1974 and completed in 1981, took the place of the North Platte Junior College Building at Fifth and Jeffers.
The McDonald Belton building houses the academic transfer, business/office technology, health occupations, community services, music, art, drama, and athletic programs. Construction was completed and the first group of students occupied residence halls constructed on the South Campus.

McCook offers a variety of two-year Associate degrees and coursework designed for academic transfer. The school also offers a number of Associate of Applied Science Degrees in Health Occupations, Business Office Technology, Information Technology, Welding and Machine Shop Technology, and Child Development opportunities.
