Kentucky State University, building on its legacy of achievement as a historically black, liberal arts, and 1890 land-grant university, affords access to and prepares a diverse student population of traditional and non-traditional students to compete in a multifaceted, ever-changing global society by providing student-centered learning while integrating teaching, research, and service through high-quality undergraduate and select graduate programs. Kentucky State University is committed to keeping relevant its legacy of service by proactively engaging the community in partnerships on civic projects driven by the objective of positively impacting the quality of life of the citizens of the Commonwealth.
Kentucky State University, also known as KSU, is a historically black university located in Frankfort, Kentucky, United States. It was established in 1886, and its former name was the State Normal School for Colored Persons. It became a university in the year 1972. KSU offers degrees to students through three colleges, which are:
- College of Arts, Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies
- College of Mathematics, Sciences, Technology and Health
- College of Professional Studies
Academic Scholarships
The Academic Scholarship Program at Kentucky State University is designed to recognize and reward students who have exemplified academic excellence. Scholarships are awarded by the Admissions Office to entering students who have not completed a bachelor’s degree program. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis, and many are renewable for subsequent semesters.
Scholarship awards are based upon a number of criteria including cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) composite ACT or SAT scores and acceptance
into the university.
