Iowa State University was founded in 1858 as the Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. The university adopted its present name in 1959. The main campus encompasses more than 1,900 acres in Ames, Iowa. ISU offers more than 90 Bachelors degree programs and 100 Masters Programs.
ISU is divided into the following academic divisions:
College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
College of Business
College of Design
College of Engineering
College of Human Sciences
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
College of Veterinary Medicine
The Graduate College
ISU has an active Greek community and offers more than 45 chapters involving 11% of its undergraduate students.
