University description (as per official university website)

Hands-on learning makes all the difference at Millikin University.

Millikin University is an independent, four-year university in Decatur, Ill. with approximately 2,400 students in traditional and non-traditional undergraduate and Masters degree programs.

Students not only learn through textbooks, but get hands-on experience through internships, consulting projects and one-on-one work with professors.

That experience makes Millikin grads successful: 99% of 2007 graduates gained employment or entry to graduate/professional school within six months of graduation.

Academics:

At Millikin, you won't just talk and theorize about the subjects you're learning. Instead, you'll put them to work in real, tangible ways.

If you're interested in international business, conduct market research overseas for an international company. As a fine arts student, star in a musical or opera, or play with accomplished visiting musicians. Take advantage of connections with local schools and hospitals and observe professionals in the workplace as a freshman education or nursing student.

Millikin's Honors Program introduces students to college-level scholarship, research, critical thinking, and writing during the freshman and sophomore years. Honors Scholars are chosen based on their academic achievements, involvement in high school, and an interview/selection process.

Selection requires admission to Millikin, completion of the Long-Vanderburg Scholarship Application and an interview. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 cumulative
