Academic (merit-based) Scholarships
Academic (merit-based) Scholarships up to $15,000 are awarded on a competitive basis to qualified international candidates who are applying as first-year or transfer students. No separate application form is needed - applicants will be automatically considered for merit scholarships based on the application for admission. These scholarships are renewable annually according to the academic requirements stated at time of award.
Sweet Briar is not able to offer need-based aid to non-U.S. citizens. A required piece of the application for admission is the "International Student Certification of Finances" form, which can be downloaded from their web site - please make sure that you complete this form and secure appropriate financing for college. Because the maximum merit scholarship is $15,000, it will be important for non-U.S. citizens to demonstrate an ability to contribute at least $19,000 per year toward the cost of education or the college will be unable to issue an I-20.
