Virginia Theological University was created as a non denominational research and teaching institution. The University is a Monotheist University and it invites students from around the world to conduct scientific research in the faculties of Theological; History, Philosophy, law, Counseling, the Old Testament, New Testament, & the Quran. Virginia Theological University has been on line since 1995. It was the first Theological University to offer on line education in the United States.
It is the University's mission to teach comparative religions with specialization in Islam.
