University description (as per official university website)

About Mercy

Mercy College is a New York metropolitan area college of over 9,000 students from all walks of life studying at 5 campuses and a robust online campus. The main campus is in Dobbs Ferry, and branch campuses are in the Bronx, Manhattan, White Plains and Yorktown. In addition, Mercy operates access centers in several neighborhoods in Westchester County and New York City. The College was established in 1950 by the Sisters of Mercy to give the opportunity for higher education to young women who wouldn't otherwise have access to the advantages of a college education. In 1969, it became co-ed and nonsectarian, boldly reaching out to its surrounding communities. The mission - to make available the transformational power of a postsecondary education to people who would not otherwise have the opportunity -- has remained strong through all the growth and change.

Mercy College Grant And Scholarship Resources

Mercy College Scholarships are awarded primarily based on superior academic performance, demonstrated financial need, and the student's potential contribution to the intellectual life of the College. In addition to applying for the following scholarships, the FAFSA should be filed by April 1. These scholarships are generally available to new incoming freshmen, transfer students and continuing students.

Grants and scholarships are the most desirable type of aid because the funds do not need to be repaid. In addition to state and federal grants, many scholarship programs have been established through the generosity of individuals, friends, and alumni of the College, as well as academic, professional, fraternal and business organizations and foundations to give recognition and support to University students.
