Scholarships or student grants program description

The George Viner Memorial Fund was set up by the National Union of Journalists to address this shortfall. The fund supports British Black and Asian students through the training they need to gain employment in radio, print and photo journalism. As well as providing course fees, books or travel payments, the Trust provides mentoring, course and careers guidance. This ensures that as many Black and Asian students as possible succeed in their chosen field.
George Viner Scholarships are granted once a year. The funding round opens in May and closes in August each year. Go to the News section to find exact deadline dates. Please note, applications received outside the deadline will not be considered.
The George Viner Memorial fund can cover some or all of your training costs. This may include course fees, travel costs, accommodation expenses, books and other equipment costs. Be sure to put down all your predicted costs, this will help the Trustees to see exactly how much your course is going to cost.
However, being a George Viner Scholar is about much more than just money. You will be invited to open days, visits and talks all related to your chosen industry. As well as this you will be ask to attend the George Viner ceremony, this is your official presentation and is attended by many industry leaders.
