| Scholarships or student grants program description |
Criteria for Scholarship/Fellowship:
* The program will commence on October 1 of each year.
* Each scholarship will be in the amount of $500.00
* The Fellowship program awards may be granted to any individual who continues their vocational training to pursue a non-professional occupation. This award will not exceed $250.00.
* Applicant's father, grandfather, stepfather, mother, grandmother, stepmother, or guardian must be a member in good standing with a veterans' organization or auxiliary for at least one year prior to the deadline of each award year. In the event a sponsor is deceased, active membership in one of the veterans' organizations within Berks County is a positive requirement at the time of death. If the applicant is other than a son or daughter, a copy of the IRS Form 1040 must accompany the letter of consideration to prove dependency.
* An applicant must be accepted by an accredited higher education institution, college, university, or trade school in order to be eligible for either program.
* An applicant for scholarship in this program must agree in his or her letter for consideration that they will include the ROTC/NROTC instruction for the mandatory period while in college or at an accredited university, if this instruction is available.
