Kingsborough Community College Scholarship Information
SUNY Old Westbury: Presidential Scholar Program

Description: For Incoming Transfer Students Presidential Scholarships: There are two different scholarships available. Level 1 scholarships are $3,000 per year($1,500 each semester) and Level 2 scholarships are $4,350 per year ($2,175 each semester). Each scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four semesters (fall and spring semesters only).
Application Requirements: Eligibility Requirements: Must apply and be accepted to SUNY College of Old Westbury as a full time matriculated student. Applicant must not currently attend SUNY College of Old Westbury. Applicant must not have previously attended SUNY College of Old Westbury. Must be a transfer student with at least 60 earned college credits by the end of the semester prior to enrollment with a minimum of a 3.3 GPA for level 1 scholarships and 3.5 minimum for level 2 scholarships at the time of application. Multiple averages are combined. Award recipients must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States. Award recipients must be pursuing their first bachelor's degree. All award recipients must register full-time at SUNY College at Old Westbury each semester. Minimum 3.3 GPA must be verified for renewal of awards. If student is graduating mid-year and only one semester is required for graduation, the award will be reduced to half the award amount. Any unused semesters cannot be refunded. Financial need is not a requirement. Award can only be used at SUNY College at Old Westbury. Participation in at least 2 college-sponsored events as determined by the Office of Enrollment Services is required each year for renewal of the award. Application Requirements: All applications must include the following: A completed SUNY Application with all supporting documents must be on file with our office A Presidential Scholarship Application. Two professional letters of recommendation (professors or employers are preferred). A personal statement on your commitment to either your school or home community. An origrinal essay, 500 words minimum, entitled My Impact On The World Around Me. The scholarship application, recommendations, and personal statement must be mailed to: SUNY College at Old Westbury Office of Enrollment Services, Scholarship Program PO Box 307 Old Westbury, New York 11568 - 0307 Applications and all required information must be postmarked by October 15th for spring 2010 applications. Applications with missing information will not be considered.
