The A.T. Anderson Memorial Scholarship Program is funded through a variety of sources, including memorials, private donations, AISES
fundraisers, corporations and government entities. These scholarships are awarded to American Indian/Alaska Native AISES members
pursuing degrees in the sciences, engineering, medicine, natural resources, math and technology. Scholarship is non-renewable.
OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT: CUMULATIVE GPA REQUIREMENT is 3.0. The applicant’s most recent Official transcript(s) are required.
Faxed, photocopies and computer printouts by applicant will not be accepted. Transcripts must reflect Spring ’09 final grades.
PERSONAL ESSAY: On a separate sheet(s), the applicant must provide a personal statement with no more than 500 words. This
statement is evaluated by stating educational and/or career goals, stating interest in and motivation to continue higher education,
understanding the importance of college and a commitment to completion, expressing commitment to learning, and giving back to the
community. The personal essay must be included with this application, typed using a 12-point font, and double-spaced. The
applicant's name and date must appear at the top of the sheet. Stapled and double-sided written essays will NOT be accepted.
TRIBAL ENROLLMENT: Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) or proof of tribal enrollment document is required.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Please submit TWO letters of recommendation. We suggest a professor or advisor from school, and/or a nonrelated
adult friend at work or in your community who knows you well.
ONLINE RESUME: All AISES Scholarship applicants are required to add their resume to the AISES Online Resume Database in order for
their application to be considered. AISES will only accept resumes through the Online Resume Database. In order to submit your
resume to the database, and to use the tutorial, you must be a current AISES member. You will need your AISES member ID and
password to log into the AISES netServices. For more information about uploading your resume and/or to check out the online AISES
resume tutorial and resume builder please visit http://cfapps.aises.org/netservices/nsmember/app_login.cfm.
In order for your application to be considered, it must be filled out completely and all required documents must be
submitted.
CRITERIA Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
1. Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA).
2. Must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited four year college/university, or a full-time
student at a two year college enrolled in a program leading to an academic degree.
3. Majoring in one of the following college disciplines:
 Math  Medicine  Physical Science  Technology
 Science  Engineering  Natural Resources
4. Must be a member of an American Indian tribe or otherwise considered to be an American Indian by the tribe with which
affiliation is claimed; or is at least 1/4 American Indian blood; or is at least 1/4 Alaskan Native; or considered to be an Alaskan
Native by an Alaskan Native group to which affiliation is claimed.
5. Must be a current member of AISES. To obtain an AISES membership go to http://www.aises.org/membership/
AWARDS Notification of award is made in October and fall disbursements are made no later than November 1. Spring disbursement of the
award will be given out dependent upon maintenance of a 3.0 or higher grade point average (GPA) and verification of a full-time
course load.
$1,000 for undergraduates per academic year
$2,000 for graduate students per academic year
