For UK and EU domiciled undergraduates
Aberystwyth has taken a decision to commit a proportion of our fee income to create a bursary scheme to assist full-time undergraduate who are normally resident in the United Kingdom or European Union.
If your residual household income is £39,329* or below you will receive a bursary towards your living costs.
UK students do not have to complete a separate application form for the bursary. However, if you or persons named in Section 10 of the Student Support application form PN1 declare that information about your eligibility for student finance should not be shared, it will result in you not being considered for an Aberystwyth Bursary.
The University will receive the financial assessment of your household income made by your LEA and will use this to assess your entitlement to a bursary. If you are not eligible for a bursary when you start your course, but your family income falls subsequently, you can still receive an award in later years. It is vital therefore that you apply to your LEA for support. The bursary will be paid directly to you by instalments throughout the year. For 2009/2010, the Aberystwyth bursary bands are expected to be as follows:

£18,371 - £23,610 £800
£23,611 - £28,850 £600
£28,851 - £34,090 £400
£34,091 - £39,329 £200
* Includes the Welsh National Bursary.
Please note that the National and Aberystwyth Bursary
* Does not have to be paid back
* Is in addition to government grants and loans, entrance scholarships, excellence bursaries, music bursaries
* Is open to all full-time UK and EU domiciled undergraduate students, who have applied to their LEA for support, irrespective of where they live in the United Kingdom or the European Union.
