| Scholarships or student grants program description |
New international* students joining full-time, non-clinical degree programmes at the University of Liverpool in 2009/10 will qualify for an International Advancement Award valued at £1,000.
International Advancement Awards will be available for every year of study (excluding, where taken, a year in industry or abroad**), and will be automatically deducted from each student’s tuition fee account.
It will be possible for students to hold both an International Advancement Award and other University of Liverpool scholarships simultaneously.
Apply
There is no official application procedure or deadline. All new international students, with the exception of those listed below, will automatically qualify for an award.
There is no need to complete an application form.
Eligibility
Levels of study eligible: undergraduate, Postgraduate Taught, Postgraduate Research.
The only applicants who do not qualify are:
* Undergraduate students joining clinical programmes within the Faculty of Medicine, the School of Dentistry or the Faculty of Veterinary Science
* Students studying part-time, or for diplomas
* Students studying for awards of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine
* Students registering for pre-University studies at Liverpool International College
* Students who are registered for off-site PhDs
* Students whose study is already fully funded by a UK-Government Award, (e.g. Chevening, Dorothy Hodgkin and ORSAS), or those who are already fully funded from University sources e.g. Duncan Norman and Elizabeth Hodgkinson awards
* Students whose fees are being paid by an overseas funding body where a different agreement on fees is already in place. At the present time this includes:
1. Students funded by the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia Tecnologia (CONACYT)
2. Students funded by the Egyptian Government through the Egyptian Cultural Bureau in London
3. Students funded by the Omani Ministry of Manpower within the International Placement Programme agreed with the UK-Oman PG Consortium
4. Students receiving funding from the Fundacion Mexicana para la Educacion, la Tecnologia y la Ciencia (FUNED)
5. Holders of the University of Liverpool Postgraduate Taught Awards Scholarship do not qualify to simultaneously receive the International Advancement Award
* International students are those classified as eligible to pay tuition fees at the overseas (or specified rate).
** A minimum tuition fee (£610 in 2007/08) is charged to students spending their full academic year away from the University (either studying/working abroad, or in industry as part of their degree programme).
