Have you ever thought about launching a spacecraft by yourself? In fact astonishing, magnificent and gripping process, isn’t it? Great impressions! But usually people only daydream about really performing it.
It happens because we don’t have permission to step on the launching site of a space center; we don’t possess necessary knowledge and skills, are not courageous enough and seems that not prepared enough to leave the Earth even for a moment……And this list or reasons may be continued….
It happens in the modern world, where the rhythm of life is quick and tough. People have no time for dreams; they have to keep pace following this life.
But wait, let us see – maybe it is possible? Maybe a space center is near? Round the corner?....
From early childhood and till the end of the life – at home, at various schools, universities, in towns and countries, just in the street, in a flat, at the corner people are trying and obtaining knowledge – in various spheres – and defining one’s track. Because – to find a step is necessary for going further. Such simple questions: Who am I? Am I useful in society? What do I need to feel well? What skills and knowledge will I use? What should I obtain to go further? Etc., etc.
These places are only PLACES?...By no means.
I would say THEY are a SPACE CENTER.
Getting to a place of education you’re acquiring permission for learning, without any preceding activity. The same way, you get permission for teachers – parents, friends, school and university teachers, acquaintances, strangers, beloved…Teacher is your “LAUNCHING SITE”, someone who directs you, gives you courage for reaching your aim or for changing it, sometimes assists in dealing with problems on the way, and helps to see the way, your way. Teachers give food for thought, understanding, together with knowledge or experience: why do you need it? Do you need it?? If not, what is your goal, life-plan? How are you going to achieve it? What are you interested in? How to enjoy learning? (By the way, speak to your teacher, and you will find out answers!)
So, finally, a SPACECRAFT.
Please, someone, give a mirror – oh, it doesn’t matter of what size. You see? Your experience, your life, your uniqueness – this is your spacecraft.
… But why don’t you fly?
FUEL – yes, sure. Fuel. …Well, it’s your DECISION. Everything is ready – why not just turn on the engine? Just to decide – turn on or wait. But it can change lots of things. Actually, nothing ‘bad’ will happen if not to fly – you just continue your living on the ground. That’s also wonderful! No doubt. Just remember: you are in a space center, legally, having found a launching site, a spacecraft and fuel. Sometimes, for reaching your life aim you would feel it is necessary to leave Earth. And I would say touching stars is not impossible sitting in a spacecraft, isn’t it? In a spacecraft, you can see Earth and common things from different angle. If you turn on the engine.
And now, imagine more magnificent picture – watching launches of dozens of spacecrafts. Hundreds of spacecrafts…Observing their everyday preparing for this launch, helping to produce fuel for them…Unforgettable experience. You say: fiction? No. You say: impossible to see in real life, you are crazy! No! This is the wonder I discovered once. This is EDUCATION. Having entered first time a school class for teaching small kids, I did not know what would happen in some minutes. What would happen when I turn round standing at the blackboard. Of course, you may say - usual thing. But…. I saw their eyes. Each child has unique eyes. Every child learns unique way. Every child is getting a unique way. School is a huge space center. Where you can see and be a part of many launches. That is why devoted teachers do understand the values of this work, they do stay with this work – though not well-paid, not visibly grateful, not…. –a lot of not’s and a bunch of problems and unanswered questions, but….this is a real WONDER.
