Announcement follows
The objectives of the WIDER Visiting Scholars Programme are to provide qualified researchers an opportunity to pursue studies/research projects on topics related to development economics or transition economies, to participate in WIDER’s research projects and to contribute to WIDER's publications series. It is also designed to aid the dissemination of WIDER research results and to contribute to WIDER's outreach programme.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should
* have a PhD degree in economics or related discipline.
* possess a good publication record.
* intend to work in an area related to development or transition economics.
* be prepared to spend a minimum of 2 months and no more than 5 months in WIDER.
* eference will be given to applicants from developing or transition countries.
* Female applicants are particularly encouraged to apply.
Successful applicants are expected to
* pursue research on mutually agreed topic(s).
* interact with the academic staff at WIDER.
* prepare at least one original research paper(s) to be considered for publication in the Institute's series.
* give one or two seminars in their field of research.
* acknowledge WIDER’s support whenever appropriate
Financial Assistance
WIDER will provide a monthly stipend of 2,000 Euros as a contribution towards travel, accommodation, medical, and other living expenses during the visit.
Application Procedure
There is no standard application form. Those interested in this programme should submit
* a written letter of application which includes the preferred period for the sabbatical.
* a research proposal, bearing in mind WIDER's current research focus, and
* a detailed curriculum vitae, including contact details and a list of publications.
Applications should be received by 30 September each year (applications will not be assessed until after the closing date) by regular mail at the following address:
