Call for Papers

The 9th Conference of the European Sociological Association will be held in Lisbon between 2 and 5 of September 2009. The Conference is being organised by a consortium including three Portuguese university and research institutions - the Department of Sociology of ISCTE-Lisbon University Institute (the leading institution of the consortium), the Human and Social Sciences School of the New University of Lisbon (FCSH-UNL), the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-UL) - and the Portuguese Sociological Association (APS).

The topic of the Conference is “European Society or European Societies?” The aim is to consider whether we can look at European society as an increasingly cohesive entity or whether divisions of nation, class, ethnicity, region, gender and so on continue to be more salient.

Important Dates

26 February 2009 - Deadline for abstracts submission (online submission form)

26 March 2009 - Notification of acceptance of abstracts by RN/RS coordinators

15 May 2009 - Early bird registration

15 June 2009 - Deadline for registration by paper givers (otherwise paper will be withdrawn from the conference programme)

15 July 2009 - Deadline for sending full written papers to RN/RS and to the Local Organising Committee (Full papers which are not submitted until this date will not be considered for publication)

The deadline for submitting abstracts is 26 February 2009. Abstracts should be 200-350 words and need to be submitted through the conference website. If your abstract is accepted, full papers must be submitted by 15 July 2009 at the latest.
