A position as a postdoctoral fellow is available at the Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages (ILOS) at the University of Oslo. The position will be attached to the Departmentís section for Slavic and East European studies. Slavic and East European studies is a prioritzed research area at the Faculty of Humanities.

The successful candidate must have a research project within one or several of the modern Slavic languages that are taught at the department: Russian, Polish, Czech and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian (BCS). Projects that may relate to research done by the Departmentís senior researchers in modern Slavic languages will be given priority. We refer in particular to the projects SynSem, Traveling Texts and Discourses of the Nation and the National.

The successful candidate is expected to strengthen the relevant research areas addressed in the project description, to contribute to and participate in the various workshops, conferences and activities organized by the section for Slavic and East European studies at ILOS. The main purpose of postdoctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.

The position is available for a period of four years and entails a 25 % compulsory workload of teaching and supervision duties.

+Personal suitability and motivation for the position

Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation before the application deadline.

In the evaluation of the applications, emphasis will be placed on:

+the projectís scientific merit, research-related relevance and innovation
+the applicantís academic and personal qualifications to carry out the project within the allotted time frame and contribute to the section for Slavic and East European studies at ILOS
+good cooperative skills, and the ability to successfully join in academic collaboration within and across disciplines.

+List of published and unpublished works
+Project description (approximately 3-5 pages). The project description must present a feasible progress plan. It is expected that the applicant will be able to complete the project during the period of appointment
