Qualified Researcher at Stress Research Institute, Stockholm University. Ref. nr. SU 619-545-08. Deadline for applications is 30/11/2008.
Stress Research Institute is a research and knowledge centre - within the Faculty of Social Sciences at Stockholm University - focusing on stress and health. The core of our research is the prevalence and causes of stress (particularly in working life), the link between stress and disease, countermeasures against stress (including treatment), restitution (sleep), and vulnerable groups. We have a strong interdisciplinary approach and cover the whole spectrum from sociology to medicine.
Position: The successful applicant will be expected to lead a research group focusing on physiological/medical aspects of stress. This may involve molecular biology, immunology, endocrinology, neuro-imaging and cardiology in relation to stress.
Tasks: The main task for the position is to lead own research, generate external funding and train new researchers (PhD students). All institute employees are expected to create good contacts within the scientific community nationally and internationally and furthermore to participate in the institution's internal academic work and discussions.
Qualifications: MD or PhD in physiology/medicine. Applicants should be highly innovative and motivated, with a strong methodological background and a good record of publications and research funding. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required. Swedish language skill is no requirement for the appointment, but the applicant must be prepared to take on some administrative and educational tasks which require an understanding of Swedish within a few years. The applicant must also be good at co-operation, as well as other skills and abilities needed to carry out his/her duties.
Salary: Depending on qualifications.
