The Fourth Annual Manifest Prize
International

Scholarship / Financial aid: $1000 Cash Award + Solo Feature Exhibit of ONE Prize-winning work

Date: 2013/14

Deadline: November 1, 2013

Open to: international students and professionals

Announcement follows

THE CONCEPT

All of Manifest's calls for entry are competitive. The stiffness of the competition has increased in proportion to Manifest's growing reputation, powerful mission, and international reach. Our mission to stand for quality, to create a system whereby works are judged with objectivity as a primary aim, and assembled with as little subjective curatorial agenda as possible has gained the respect of thousands of artists from all over the world, and a vast following of arts lovers, patrons, and supporters.

We respect the creative principle of reduction (the jury process) as it is employed to achieve an essential conclusive statement for each exhibit. This is what has led to the high caliber of each Manifest exhibit, and to the gallery's notable reputation.

With this principle of reduction in mind, we have been inspired by the intensity of jury after jury to narrow down a collection of entries to a suitable exhibit. Therefore we have determined to push the process to the ultimate limit - from among many to select ONE work to be exhibited in one of our five galleries* from December 13 through January 10, 2014. This work will be the recipient of the fourth annual MANIFEST PRIZE, a cash award of $1000 to a single work selected by our rigorous jury process, and presented in a gallery all to itself as the highlight of the cometitive process, an honor to the artist, and a poignant statement for gallery visitors. * Final space assignment will be determined by Manifest once finalist is selected.

The Manifest Prize was launched in 2010 as an annual offering. The cash award for this competition is now $1000 and a four-week solo exhibit of the winning work displayed along with juror statements.

Five semi-finalists will also be featured in the full-color Manifest Exhibition Annual season-documenting publication.

Eligibility:
ONE.4 is open to everyone (students and professionals are encouraged to submit). The only limitation is that entries must represent original works of art or design and be available and capable of being exhibited in one of Manifest's five galleries. Floor plans are available upon request.

Media:
Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts genre and media, (including video, photography, sculpture, installation, painting, drawing, etc.). There is no size limit or minimum size required, other than what is capable of being displayed in our gallery space.

Jury and Curator:
Manifest's normal selection process involves a complex two-part system. This exhibit will be juried by an anonymous 7-15 member panel of professional and academic advisors with a broad range of expertise. Because of the nature of this project, works approved by the first jury will be passed through a second, and possibly a third jury round, with jurors being shuffled from round to round. The work receiving the highest average score will be awarded the prize. The five next highest scorers will be the runners up. Juror comments will be posted in the gallery and in the Manifest Exhibition Annual.
