International Student Scholarships and Resources
Hiram College, Ohio, USA

Scholarship / Financial aid: merit-based Global Scholarships

Date: four years

Deadline: October 1, 2012

Open to: international students

Announcement follows

Tuition Guarantee

Hiram College offers a unique way to help make college more affordable. While tuition at many other colleges and universities usually rises between five and 10% every year, the Hiram College Tuition Guarantee locks in tuition for each student at his or her first-year rate. The annual cost for tuition will not increase for a student from the first year through the student's fourth year at Hiram. While students at other institutes of higher education are never certain what type of annual tuition increase they will encounter, Hiram students will know: there will be no increase. As result, Hiram families can plan ahead for expenses and achieve significant savings during the four years of education.

Hiram College Global Scholarships

International applicants are eligible to compete for merit-based Global Scholarships. For on-campus residents, they range up to a maximum of $19,500 per year. For commuter students, they range up to a maximum of $15,000 per year. Scholarships are renewable annually for up to four years of study.

To receive full consideration, a completed application for admission must be received no later than February 15 for the fall intake and no later than October 1 for the spring intake.

There is no separate scholarship application. The application for admission and all supporting documents are used in the scholarship process.

The scholarship committee evaluates each student's file in its entirety. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic preparation and performance, standardized test scores, class rank, teacher evaluations, personal essay, and individual skills and talents. The strongest emphasis is placed on academic performance. Global Scholarship recipients are notified no later than March 1.

Outside Scholarships

There are some search agencies that provide free information on scholarships available to international students. While there are other agencies and organizations that offer to conduct a search for a fee, use extreme caution before paying someone to search for scholarships. With some diligent research on your part, you can find the same information at no cost. Also beware of scholarships that require a fee as part of the application process. Legitimate scholarship foundations do not charge application fees.
